History
Don Law has a rich history in racing and the Jaguar XJ220
Don spent 10 years working as a civil engineer and during this period ran a Jaguar 3.8 saloon as a daily car and at weekends helped friends with their racing Jaguars. His fascination with making the cars go quicker and how to carry out performance modifications led him to turn his hobby into a business in 1986.
It was Jaguar orientated from the get go and by 1993, when showing an interest in racing an XJ220, Don and son Justin were invited to join the official XJ220 TWR team at Le Mans. It soon became clear that TWR lacked the time to remain involved in the project long-term. In 1994, the first one of the race cars came into the workshop and from that point onwards Don Law Racing (DLR) were involved in preparing and racing the XJ220. This period also saw the rise of the Group C Historic race series, which DLR were founder members.
Between 2000 and 2007 Jaguar was under Ford ownership and as parts became hard to source responsibility fell to DLR to look after the good name of the car. Once Jaguar’s 10 year obligation to the dealers ended, Jaguar chairman, Nick Scheele unofficially appointed DLR to handle all XJ220 customer requirements.
In 2007 DLR acquired the XJ220 business which included all the original parts, tooling and equipment. It also including some interesting things, such as a wooden buck and a cutaway engine. Along with the rescue of the parts business, much of the heritage of the car was rescued by saving the MIRA crash car and pre-production cars.
